It’s Friday and my brain is fried. Here’s some movie news to get us through to the weekend:
1. The Forest Trailer
The movie stars Natalie Dormer and is about a woman who goes into the forest to search for her missing twin sister. It looks freaky or dumb or both, and I will totally watch it and probably be scared while also making derisive comments about it.
2. Kristen Bell to star in movie version of CHiPs
I mean, she’s better than this. She deserves better than this. Ugh. (The Wrap)
3. Nasty Baby Trailer
This super-indie looks interesting, at least. It has some people I like (Kristen Wiig, Alia Shawkat) and is about a gay couple who try to help their friend have a baby. The early reviews are mostly positive, and it will be a dual release in theaters/VOD in late October, so the chances of me seeing it are pretty good.
4. Elizabeth Banks in talks to direct Charlie’s Angels reboot
I’m including this because it would be a fairly high profile project featuring a female director. That is notable. Do we need another attempt at a Charlie’s Angels movie? Fuck no. But that’s life. (THR)
5. Carol Trailer
An adaptation of a Patricia Highsmith novel, Carol stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. It’s about a housewife who has an affair with a department store clerk (who just happens to also be a woman). The early buzz is good, with both lead actress performances receiving a fair amount of accolades. I will see this, because why not?
