My Weekend in Pop Culture

These are the pop culture things I consumed this week.

leverageLeverage: J. and I have been watching this for a couple weeks.  It’s very silly and total brain candy, but it’s good background noise when I’m cooking or crafting and J. is doing internet things.  Plus, Christian Kane’s hair is so gorgeous.

The Blair Witch Project: J. and I had a horror movieblair witch marathon on Halloween and watched this as part of the lineup.  I haven’t seen it in at least 10 years, and he had never seen it.  I actually think it holds up quite well–it’s still scary and smart and so many movies have copied it in the last 15 years–but J. thought it would have been much scarier if he had been in the theater.  Which, duh.  But still fun.

innkeepersThe Innkeepers: Another one of the horror movies we watched.  This was a slow-burn, and let’s put the emphasis on the slow part, because ZZZZZZ.  The last 20 minutes can’t make up for the first 70, and I’m still not sure what the takeaway was.  Like, what was the point?  What did the ghosts want?  Why do I care?  J. hated it more than I did.

What pop culture did you consume this weekend?

  1. Leverage is so diverting exactly as described. Aldis Hodge is my favorite one, especially after he played flatly villainous Voodoo Tatum on Friday Night Lights. But my second-favorite one is Christian Kane’s hair, you’re right.

Aldis Hodge is my favorite, too! It took me an embarrassingly long time to place him, and then I did a little dance about how he was Voodoo Tatum on FNL and J. stared at me blankly.
