Are ya’ll ready for another installment of Movie News and Blather? I certainly am. After weeks of silence, I’ve got some great stuff for you. Here’s the movie news I’m most excited about this week.
1. More Than Honey
This documentary examines the ongoing and perplexing issue of the dying honeybee population. As someone who both fears and respects these incredible insects, this documentary looks fascinating. I can’t wait to see it and be simultaneously fascinated and freaked out.
2. A bunch of ladies are competing to be Hilary
There’s a biopic in the works about Hilary Rodham Clinton, and a bunch of actresses are either cat-fighting or being considered (depending on your source and the corresponding level of misogyny) for the role, including Carey Mulligan, Scarlett Johansson (really????), Jessica Chastain, and Reese Witherspoon. I’m not sure who will end up getting the role, but you can bet your butt that I’ll be seeing the movie when it comes out. (the Independent)
3. About Time Trailer
It looks like a fairly cute rom-com. I don’t know. I like Rachel McAdams and I love Bill Nighy, so how could I not see this one?
4. Movie theater owners want shorter trailers
This article is really interesting, because it features yet another dispute between theater owners and studios. In this case, theater owners want shorter trailers (a maximum of 2 minutes), because they are receiving feedback from their customers that movie trailers are giving the entire plot away. Which, duh, yeah they are. I’d love to see shorter trailers that don’t spoil the whole damn movie. Studios are, of course, not happy with this feedback and are fighting it. What do you think? (THR)
5. Prisoners Trailer
This one looks like it’s going to be tough to watch. But it has such a great cast! Paul Dano, Hugh Jackman, and Maria Bello? I’m in, even if the premise (a man kidnaps the only person who might know who kidnapped his daughter?) seems a little been there, done that.
