Viewed this Week (25)

Inspired by Ticket to Anywhere’s What I Watched, I post on Sundays about what movies and/or TV shows I watched the week before.  Some weeks will be epic, and some weeks…won’t be.  Let’s get to it!

Switched at Birth 1×26 – “Tree of Forgiveness”
Parenthood 4×3 – “Everything is Not Okay”
New Girl 2×1 – “Relaunch” and 2×2 – “Katie”

Young Adult

Thoughts on what I watched:

Switched at Birth continues to be sort of uneven in that there are too many subplots and they aren’t all created equal.  I continue to not care about Angelo/Daphne and want more Bay and Emmett.  Katherine and John’s relationship and squabbling over the lawsuit bores me to tears.  MORE EMMETT.

Parenthood is excellent, as is to be expected.  I don’t like the Ray Romano subplot and am nervous about what it might mean for Sarah and Mark–but hope I’m wrong about it.  I’d like to see more Amber, as always–and what’s happened to Haddie?

New Girl is back, and I’m stoked about it.  I didn’t love the premiere but thought the second episode was great and super funny.  I’ve never been particularly interested in the Schmidt/CeCe dynamic, so that’s probably why the first episode fell flat for me.  However, the episode where Jess hijacks someone else’s internet date?  Hilarious.  More, please.

Young Adult was a re-watch for me, and it’s a movie that largely holds up, mostly because it wasn’t super fantastic to begin with.  It’s still bitingly sharp and uncomfortable, and I think Charlize Theron and Patton Oswalt are particular standouts.

What did you watch this week?

  1. “Katie” was great. Jess, Y U so self destructive? The line where hot!douchebag says “we can tear each other apart” was so smarmy I gagged, though. Interesting new developments… love the show!

  2. I couldn’t even get through Young Adult. Not my type of movie at all.

So happy for the return of New Girl! The penis cast on the table. Way to gross me out.
