It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  The purpose of the meme is to discuss books we are reading this week, as well as books we completed the previous week.

Books I Completed Last Week:
Shooting Stars by Allison Rushby: Very cute, often sort of silly.  Review to come.
In Too Deep by Amanda Grace: An improvement over the heavy-handed, didactic But I Love Him, but something about Grace’s plotting, characters, and word choice grates on me.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith: Exceedingly well done and compulsively readable.  Review to come.
Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman: This quick read had a lot of promise but I’m not sure about its execution.  Review to come.
State of the Onion by Julie Hyzy: Read for readers’ advisory class.  Probably the epitome of a cozy mystery.  Not necessarily for me.

Books I’m Reading This Week:
Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler: This is so embarrassing.  I’ve been reading this one for weeks.  WEEKS.
Tessa Masterson Will Go to Prom by Brendan Halpin & Emily Franklin: We’ll see.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Was not the biggest fan of Jersey Angel. The whole *spoiler* Angel’s a cheater *end-spoiler* didn’t work well with me. That scene where Cork is *spoiler* fingering her while they both look at Inggy through the window? *end-spoiler* BLECH.

Anyway.. looking forward to your review of PROBABILITY.

    1. There were definite problems with Jersey Angel…my biggest problem was that Bauman introduced all sorts of problems and sticky issues and didn’t really explore or resolve any of them. The novel feels half-baked.
