It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. The purpose of the meme is to discuss books we are reading this week, as well as books we completed the previous week.
Books I Completed Last Week:
Personal Effects by E.M. Kokie: I loved this tough novel about a boy struggling with his anger and grief over the loss of his brother in Afghanistan. Review to come.
Guy Langman, Crime Scene Procrastinator by Josh Berk: I was worried about not liking this one, but I ended up sort of loving it. Funny, smart, and well-written. Review to come.
My Book of Life by Angel by Martine Leavitt: I loved, loved, loved this one. It was one of the best verse novels I’ve ever read, hands down. Review to come.
The Children and the Wolves by Adam Rapp: This one was great, but super dark, super disturbing, and really dense despite its rather short length. I can’t stop thinking about it. Review to come.
Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams: Another verse novel, and while this one wasn’t a standout for me, it was still very good. Review to come.
Easy by Tamara Webber: While this was enjoyable, I found it kind of problematic. Review to come.
Books I’m Reading This Week:
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: This one is long, but I’m sort of already hooked.
Keeping the Castle by Patricia Kindl: This one is outside of my normal wheelhouse, but it’s funny.
The Opposite of Hallelujah by Anna Jarzab: This one’s been getting a ton of great buzz, so it’s up next.
