It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. The purpose of the meme is to discuss books we are reading this week, as well as books we completed the previous week.
Books I Completed Last Week:
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: Some steamy romance here that hides the fact that this is a book about psychological issues. However, it was overly long and drifted into purple prose more often than I’d have liked.
No Boyz Allowed by Ni-Ni Simone: Cute, quick, and totally part of Simone’s (totally legitimate) formula. This will be a hit with fans of her other books.
Pinned by Sharon G. Flake: Definitely one of the standouts of the week, Flake’s novel about a female wrestler and a boy born with no legs was smart, sad, and beautiful.
Happy Families by Tanita S. Davis: Authentic and very real, this story about a family coping with changes was well done.
The Good Braider by Terry Farish: Beautiful verse novel about a girl from Sudan adapting to life in America.
Don’t Breathe a Word by Holly Cupala: A novel about street kids in Seattle has too much romance in it to lend much credence to its message.
