Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to spotlight eagerly-anticipated upcoming releases.
This week I’m eagerly awaiting:
The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler
Expected Release Day: May 21, 2013
Jude has learned a lot from her older sisters, but the most important thing is this: The Vargas brothers are notorious heartbreakers. She’s seen the tears and disasters that dating a Vargas boy can cause, and she swore an oath — with candles and a contract and everything — to never have anything to do with one.
Now Jude is the only sister still living at home, and she’s spending the summer helping her ailing father restore his vintage motorcycle. No one wants to end up with a toaster on wheels, so they hire a mechanic to help out. Is it Jude’s fault he happens to be cute? And surprisingly sweet? And a Vargas?
Jude tells herself it’s strictly bike business with Emilio. Her sisters will never find out, and Jude can spot those flirty little Vargas tricks a mile away — no way would she fall for them. But old warnings fade fast, because Emilio turns out to be the first guy in forever she likes. Really likes. Jude’s defenses are crumbling, and if history is destined to repeat itself, she’s speeding toward some serious heartbreak…
But what if her sisters were wrong?
Jude may have taken an oath, but she’s beginning to think that when it comes to love, some promises might be worth breaking.

You guys probably know that Twenty Boy Summer is one of my favorite books of all time. While I didn’t love Ockler’s most recent effort, I’m starting to wonder if it was more of a personal thing than anything (and will probably revisit the novel soon). This one sounds like it’s right up my alley, and I can’t wait to get a copy of it. Unfortunately, it isn’t available until next May, which feels like an eternity from now. At any rate, here’s to hoping Ockler’s crafted another sweet, thoughtful romance. She’s one of the best contemporary YA writers working these days and is definitely worth checking out.
What are you waiting on this week?
I wasn’t a huge fan of Twenty Boy Summer but this one looks really interesting and may have to give it a try!

My WoW
I hadn’t heard of this one before so thank you for sharing it! ^.^ If you would like to check out my Waiting On Wednesday you can do so here.
This book sounds scrumptious.! And now you make me want to give Twenty Boy Summer a chance. Will add that to my list.
I am SO EXCITED for this book.
Also: have you read all of Sarah Ockler’s books (she has 3 out) or just two? Because the last, BITTERSWEET, was awesome (or at least I thought it was).
Uh, I don’t know why I totally spaced on the fact that Bittersweet was her third novel. I’ve read all her stuff, but Twenty Boy Summer remains my favorite.
