Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to spotlight eagerly-anticipated upcoming releases.
This week I’m eagerly awaiting:
Burning Blue by Paul Griffin
Expected Release Date: October 25th, 2012
How far would you go for love, beauty, and jealousy?
When Nicole Castro, the most beautiful girl in her wealthy New Jersey high school, is splashed with acid on the left side of her perfect face, the whole world takes notice. But quiet loner Jay Nazarro does more than that–he decides to find out who did it. Jay understands how it feels to be treated like a freak, and he also has a secret: He’s a brilliant hacker. But the deeper he digs, the more danger he’s in–and the more he falls for Nicole. Too bad everyone is turning into a suspect, including Nicole herself.
Award-winning author Paul Griffin has written a high-stakes, soulful mystery about the meaning–and dangers–of love and beauty.
(summary via Goodreads)
I read and really liked Grififn’s Stay with Me, so I’m interested to see how he follows that up (I know he wrote a novel before Stay with Me, but I haven’t gotten to it yet). Griffin tends to bring gritty realism to his YA novels, and this one certainly sounds like it’s going to have some grit. I’ve followed the cases of people being splashed with acid with fascination and horror, and I think it’ll be really interesting to see a fictionalized take on this issue. I’m sure this one won’t be a total upper, though.
What are you waiting on this week?
