It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  The purpose of the meme is to discuss books we are reading this week, as well as books we completed the previous week.

Books I Completed Last Week:
The Easter Parade by Richard Yates: I loved this one like a lot.  Super depressing but super beautiful and haunting.  The characters are still with me.
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume: A re-read that started as a way to distract myself from my nerves, I liked revisiting this one.
Holier Than Thou by Laura Buzo: Loved. This. I don’t know why it took me so long to read it after buying it.  LOVED IT.

Books I’m Reading This Week:
The Collected Stories of Richard Yates by Richard Yates: On a roll, obviously.
Ten Girls to Watch by Charity Shumway: Still working on this one.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I love Summer Sisters. There’s something so melodramatic about it. It has long filled my summer drama void.

  2. Richard Yates is a master who sees the saddest parts of American family life and showcases these in his work. Powerful writing.

Here’s my It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? I hope you will stop by!

Last night I scoured the shelves for something to read for an hour or so. I picked up Helen Garner’s ‘The Spare Room’ and didn’t put it down until well & truly finished! It was so raw & honest, definitely worth a read!
