Ignoring the fact that I hate when novels are described as being a “powerhouse” almost as much as I hate when they’re described as a “tour de force,” I have to admit that this novel sounds very intriguing.  While I’m pretty sure I’ve already got the vague central issue figured out (I’m a smart cookie like that), I think the story could still be very compelling.  Sometimes I like my YA light and fluffy, but when it’s done well, I like my YA dark, too.  This novel doesn’t look like it’s going to be particularly light or fluffy (I mean, look at that cover), but it does look like it’s got a fair amount of promise.
