Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.  Its purpose is to spotlight eagerly-anticipated upcoming releases.

This week, I can’t wait for:

The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler

Expected release: November 21, 2011

It’s 1996, and less than half of all American high school students have ever used the Internet.

Emma just got her first computer and an America Online CD-ROM.

Josh is her best friend. They power up and log on–and discover themselves on Facebook, fifteen years in the future.

Everybody wonders what their Destiny will be. Josh and Emma are about to find out.

(summary via Goodreads)

Here’s the thing about novels written by more than one author: there’s an inherent risk that the book will not be very good.  In my experience, books written by more than one author struggle stylistically.  That’s not to say that it can’t work: I know a lot of people are fans of the Rachel Cohn/David Levithan novels (I’m…not).  That being said, I can’t help kind of digging this concept.  It could be great, or it could be terrible.

Either way, I hope that’s not the final cover.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
